So what is a pattern interrupt? I have the definition on my computer right here. A pattern interrupt is a technique to change a particular thought, behavior or situation. Behavioral psychology and neuro-linguistic programming use this technique to interrupt and change thought-patterns and behaviors.
So what does this mean for your practice? A lot of the prospects that call you are probably on auto-pilot mode. When they ask a certain question like: “Do you take my insurance?” or “Are you open these hours?” they’ll probably expect a certain type of answer. Well rather than having your front desk staff immediately give that answer, have a twenty to thirty second introduction that they give to every new caller. Everyone that’s not a patient.
This does two things.
First, it interrupts their thought pattern and their process so it just naturally helps them remember you more.
Second, it gives them an additional piece of information when making a decision on choosing which dentist to go to. That influences them in your favor.
